GRADING

What is grading?

Grading is the application of your size range to your sample.

What if I don’t know my size range?

We offer grade-development services that address your target market and utilize industry standards to create a custom size range for your line.

How do you grade patterns?

We use our computer-aided pattern-making software and our experience and expertise to apply your size range with absolute precision.

Does SPS sew samples?

We make development samples, including size-run samples, in house.

Why does SPS want to sew my development samples?

• Sewing a development sample provides a feedback loop to the patternmaking process. We adhere to industry best practices and this is how we guarantee our work.

• By knowing the scope of your project and understanding your goals, we are able to carry that knowledge through to the sewing process.

• When a pattern is delivered to a sample maker, we cannot ensure that your chosen sample maker will cut and sew the fabric exactly as it is patterned.

• Sending a development sample elsewhere can add complexity to your process.

Do you do production sewing in your shop?

For production orders of 200 pieces per style we recommend our trusted vendors. We are able to entertain what our clients consider “small productions” on a case-by-case basis, subject to availability of our sewing floor calendar.
